WHAT IS THE GIVING TREE?
The mission of New World United Methodist Church is to Love God, Love Neighbor and Make Disciples. Last year, we began The Giving Tree when we partnered with the Arlington ISD Families in Transition program to identify families in our immediate area who may need assistance during the holidays. This year more than ever, families in our local community are struggling to make ends meet. You are invited to show God’s love to our neighbors through providing thoughtful Christmas presents for children who might otherwise go without this year.
HOW DOES IT WORK IN 2020?
Just like last year, our church is sponsoring children of families experiencing homelessness that attend schools in the Lamar High School area. For 2020, our wish lists have moved online but you still “adopt” a specific Giving Tree child wish list and provide gifts. Since this may be the only presents a child receives, we hope each child will receive at least one clothing item they need and one wish list item.
- Select a child’s wish list from the VIRTUAL SIGN UP HERE: https://signup.com/go/PUPUTeb
- Buy gifts using his/her Wish List, including a minimum of one clothing need and one wish list gift.
- New this year: Please provide gift wrap so parents can have the joy of wrapping gifts for their kids!
- Return the unwrapped gifts in a bag clearly labeled with the “Giving Tree Number” to New World by WEDNESDAY, December 2 (Dollar Tree sells large decorative Christmas bags).
